NASAL IRRIGATIONS

Treatable pathologies: Rhinitis.

Methodology : The mechanical action is evident: irrigation cleanses and removes crusts and stagnant secretions from the mucosa, preparing it to receive the particles from other inhalation treatments. It is therefore advisable, unless the attending physician directs otherwise, that irrigation, like the micronized shower, always precede the inhalation cycle and insufflations. Technique: The head should be tilted and rotated, ensuring that the lower ear is always higher than the nose to prevent water from entering the middle ear via the Eustachian tube. The olive should be placed on the upper nostril so that the flow of low-pressure thermal water flows through the other nostril, while the patient breathes normally with their mouth open. This maneuver should be repeated at short intervals for each nasal cavity.

Duration : Duration: approximately 10 minutes.
